Jia Xiang is a Senior Lecturer and Consultant in Digital Health Practice at NUS-ISS. With 15 years of experience in Singapore, he has distinguished himself in creative and innovative roles within healthcare and design. His skill set includes healthcare transformation, service design, and lecturing, along with developing design strategies and driving collaborative innovation and improvement initiatives. In his current role, he focuses on enhancing healthcare experiences through the integration of technology and design, helping to shape the future of health and care. By employing human-centred design, he effectively transforms care for people.
Previously, as Principal Service Designer and Assistant Director at Tan Tock Seng Hospital and the Centre for Healthcare Innovation, he led the Service Design Team, focusing on healthcare transformation and process quality improvements across the hospital and community. He also spearheaded CHI Living Lab(CHILL), a collaborative maker space designed to empower healthcare professionals to co-create medical and point-of-care innovations. By leveraging human-centred design, he enhanced both patient care, operational efficiency, and organisation viability.
Holding an MA in Service Design from the Royal College of Art, London, and a BA in Design Communication from LASALLE College of the Arts, Singapore. He is also certified in Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and NN/g UX Master Certification. He has received multiple awards for his contributions, including the prestigious Singapore Public Sector Transformation Award for exemplary innovation, by leading his team to deliver exceptional outcomes. Additionally, as a founding member of the Service Design Network Singapore Chapter, fostering collaboration among service designers in the Singapore and South-East Asia.
